MOS · the operations system for automated plants

Already automated?
The next bottleneck sits between your systems.

Inspection machines, sensors, robots and an ERP each work well on their own. The decisions that connect them still run on people, phone calls and spreadsheets. We don't replace your systems. We find the decision that slows them down.

01 — The problem

Every system works. The handoffs between them don't.

Automation solved the machines. The decisions between machines, inspection and the ERP still wait for a person.

A sensor alert fires. Who decides to act, and how long does that take?
Inspection rejects a batch. How fast does the cause reach the line that made it?
An order lands in the ERP. Who turns it into a run sequence and a truck plan?
Setup know-how lives in people, not in data.
A new plant can't simply copy the best line's settings.
Maintenance alerts pile up instead of turning into work orders.

You don't lack data. It just never meets. Machine, inspection and ERP data sit in different systems, owned by different teams, and only connect through manual work.

02 — Approach

The data is already there. The handoffs aren't connected.

MOS reads from the systems you already run, beside them, not instead of them, and turns each handoff into a decision that reaches the right person.

03 — MOS

One operations system, three views

Not a heavy suite you install all at once. Start with the view you need. MOS doesn't replace your MES or ERP. It works beside them and connects what they leave to people.

Record the best setup.
No one starts from zero.

Every format change is saved with its settings and its first-off result, so the next technician, or a new plant coming online, starts from the best line instead of from memory.

Inspection data is linked to production records and shipped lots. When a customer complains, trace it back to the machine, mould, line and time it was made, which also covers audits such as FSSC 22000.

  • Defect → machine, mould, line, time
  • Affected shipped lots listed automatically
  • New inspection runs in shadow mode until the numbers agree

06 — Where we start

Starting points for automated plants

We pick the one handoff that costs you most and start there. These are the ones we hear most often.

Traceability

Defect → mould, line, time and shipped lot

Link inspection data to production records and shipped lots, so a customer complaint traces back in minutes, which also covers FSSC 22000 audits.

⌗ Quality · 14:40[MOS] Complaint #C-091 → Line 3 · Mould 17 · 14:00–14:30. 2 shipped lots affected.
Predictive maintenance

Maintenance alerts that become work orders

Connect vibration and temperature alerts to work orders step by step, so alerts lead to a planned stop instead of piling up. Built on our founder's patent filings in fault and anomaly detection.

⌗ Maintenance · 09:14[MOS] Line 2 drive vibration up 5 days. Draft work order for Thursday's stop.
New inspection

Run new inspection in shadow mode

A new method, such as hot-end thermal inspection or in-process sensing, runs alongside your existing checks until the numbers agree. Only then does it get authority to reject.

Setup know-how

Copy the best line, not the most senior person

Settings for each format, mould and product are captured as data, so the next technician, or a new plant coming online, starts from the best line.

Order flow

From ERP order to run sequence and truck plan

Find where orders moving from the ERP to the machines fall back to paper or spreadsheets, and connect them to line assignment, job changes and dispatch.

Root cause

What really drives the variation

When incoming material, such as recycled fibre or cullet, or process conditions vary, data from every step is brought together to find the real cause, not just the closest correlation.

07 — How we work

Three rules, each learned on a live plant

Each rule comes from something our founder actually did at LG Energy Solution.

01 · Start from your floor

No system replacement

We start from what you already run.

What we did at LGLeft the existing MES path untouched and built a real-time path beside it.

Diagnostic
02 · Fix the one bottleneck

Fix the real cause without stopping the line

We look for the decision that slows everything down, then fix that.

What we did at LGMonths of model tuning did not fix detection. Agreeing on one data format across vendors did. A fixed "slot" then let us change detection logic on running lines.

Trial
03 · Prove it in numbers

Authority only after the numbers

We agree on the numbers up front. A new system gets authority only after it meets them.

What we did at LGEarned control step by step, from shadow mode to full automation.

Rollout
Shadow mode→ Human-approved actions→ Limited automation→ Full automation
08 — Track record

Proven at scale, then on the ground

Three years at LG Energy Solution designing and running a real-time data system for about 4,000 battery formation machines across three plants, from machine controllers up to the plant MES.

OT/IT integration

Equipment, control software and MES as one system

Designed the data contracts tying the equipment system, the control software and the MES together, over a TCP/IP scheme built for the equipment itself.

Real-time detection

Change detection logic without stopping the line

Defined a standard real-time algorithm interface, so detection logic could be swapped and extended without touching the running system.

Root-cause analysis

Causal inference across every process step

Brought the data from every process together and used causal inference to find the root cause of defects, going beyond correlations seen inside a single process.

In-process inspection

Inspection during the process, not after it

Interpolated sparse sensor data to build an in-process inspection method that replaced an existing inspection step.

Closed loop

From detection to automatic equipment control

Detections fed straight back into automated equipment control, built on data integrity checked at the packet level from the MCU up, as safety-critical detection requires.

11 patent filings

Fault and anomaly detection

11 patent applications filed as sole inventor in a single year, the most in the center. They include charging-anomaly detection and power-device fault diagnosis.
